Meet The People


Stephen Baginski, President and CEO

Mr. Baginski worked for a large construction company as a Concrete Foreman while earning his BS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont.

Upon graduation in 1990, Mr. Baginski was recruited by Kaikor Construction and started his management career as a Quantity Take Off Engineer. Quickly he became a full charge Estimator until 1995 when he became Vice President of operations and took over leadership of the field operations.

In 2005, Steve took over as President and COO of Kaikor, managed all field operations, and the day-to-day management of the company. He also heads up the Kaikor Safety Team and is an active member of the General Contractor's Association of Hawaii's (GSA) Safety Committee.

He has successfully lead his team to complete such projects as the Otani Produce Warehouse in 2006, and the Kauai Bridge job in which Kaikor set the longest pre-cast girders in the State.



Johnny Chiem, Senior Project Engineer

Johnny Chiem joined Kaikor in May 2003 as a co-op student pursuing his degree in Civil Engineering. Since graduating in June 2004 with a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawaii, Johnny was promoted to project engineer and performs professional engineering work in the investigation, planning, design, construction and operation of a variety of jobs.



Dom Cueva, Engineer/Estimator

Dom Cueva began working for Kaikor in April 2005 as a co-op student of the University of Hawaii. Since then he has completed his BS degree in Engineering and obtained his Masters in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering. He is responsible for providing technical support and professional engineering services for Kaikor's construction efforts.



Michael "Mike" McCormick, Project Engineer

Mike grew up in Cresskill New Jersey and moved to Oahu to attend the University of Hawaii. While at UH he was a member of Chi Epsilon, the Civil Engineering Honor Society, and received his BS degree in Civil Engineering. He joined Kaikor in July 2010 as a Project Engineer and assists the Senior Project Engineer in planning, developing coordinating, and managing onsite construction activities for large, extensive projects. He is currently working on both the Islands of Maui and Oahu. Photo Coming Soon!



Leodey "Jigs" Capili, Project Engineer

Jigs Capili originally hails from the Philippines and is a graduate of Mapua Institute of Technology receiving his BS in Civil engineering from there. While employed in his home county, Mr. Capili worked extensively with several Japanese Construction Companies in the Philippines for various Grant Aid (JICA), commercial, industrial, and telecommunication infrastructure projects. He joined Kaikor in July of 2010 and provides assistance to the Senior Project Engineer in planning, coordinating and managing onsite construction for various projects. Photo Coming Soon!



Kaleo Baginski, Office Manager and Corporate Secretary

Kaleo Baginski rejoined the Kaikor Staff in September of 2007 after a 10 year hiatus. A graduate of the University of Washington she holds a BA degree in Psychology and is responsible for assisting the President and CEO on special projects and managing the Office.



Anna Herrera, Accountant

Ms. Herrera is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Seattle University with a BA in Business Administration majoring in Accounting. She joined the Kaikor team in 2004 and managed to attend the Universiy of Hawaii and obtain her Masters Degree in Accounting while working full time. A valued Kaikor employee, Anna is responsible for the accounting department and ensuring accurate and timely completion of work in accounts payable, payroll and general accounting.



Linda Elder, Bookkeeper

Linda Elder has been with Kaikor Construction since 1994 and is responsible for its accounting department, in conjunction with Ms. Herrera. With over 30 years experience in construction accounting, Ms. Elder contributes significantly to Kaikor Construction's financial success. Photo Coming Soon!



Gale Corpuz, Accouting Clerk

Gale was born and raised on the Island of Oahu. After attending UHCC she began her career in accounting. She lived in Reno, Nevada and joined Kaikor in 2007. With over 20 years experience in the accounting field Gale is responsible for Certified Payroll, assisting with Accounts Payable and Human Resources.


Judy Lat, Administrative Assistant

Originally from the island of Moloka’i, Ms Lat came to Oahu to attend Chaminade University and received a BA in Communications. She joined the Kaikor Team in February 2009 and provides administrative support and services to the front office, assists the President and Engineers with duties and projects, and keeps Kaikor on a friendly note. Pat Plunkett, Carpenter Foreman

Mr. Plunkett joined Kaikor Construction in 2000 after working several years for Steel Tech. He is a graduate of the Carpenter's Union Apprentice Program and has 20 years experience.


Jon Wai, Carpenter Foreman

Mr. Wai joined Kaikor Construction in 2000 after working as a Foreman with KD Construction and Kiewit Pacific. He is a graduate of the Carpenter's Union Apprentice Program and has over 20 years experience.
