Safety
At Kaikor Construction Company, Inc., we take safety very seriously.

Kaikor Construction is one of only a few companies which are SHARP certified by the State of Hawaii. SHARP stands for Safety and Health Awareness Recognition Program. This certification is awarded by the Department of Labor to those contractors who have undertaken and passed a very rigorous safety inspection and training program. Detailed information about SHARP can be found at http://www.hawaii.gov/labor/hiosh/sharp.shtml

We are constantly working to make sure all of our workers get the specified training they require. All employees are CPR and First Aid trained. Anyone who operates a forklift or a manlift has forklift training. All of our superintendents have 10 hour HIOSH training. Scaffold training classes are also highly recommended.

On a monthly basis, an outside safety representative visits our jobsites and evaluates all the workers performance as well as jobsite conditions. A written report is then prepared and distributed to the responsible supervisory personnel. Safety is also the first subject discussed at meetings and in newsletters.

Kaikor Construction has won an award from the Association General Contractors of America every year in the past ten years. Some of the recent safety awards which have been received by the company are:

  • 2007 General Contractor's Association of Hawaii's Safety Awards for "Best in Category" in the Highway Division, 60,000-139,999 Man Hours
